Cars
When we moved to Santa Cruz we had a light blue VW and a green Mercury station wagon. In 1970, Datsun came out with a cute little sports car called the 240 Z. I bought a gold one that cost $3,265 I had looked at Porsches, but they cost 5-6 thousand dollars then. I was really a nice sports car and I drove it out until I totaled it out in 1972 when I ran into a drunk driver that pulled out in front of me. I broke my ankle and the steering wheel hit me between my lip and my nose. My top lip was swollen purple and went out past my nose. My patients looked at me and started to giggle. I had a greenstick fracture through he maxillary sinus that caused me problems for years until I had surgery on it. I bought another 240Z that was white, but I didn't like the color so I had it painted maroon and had spoked wheel put on it. It was a lemon, so I kept it one year and traded it in on a brown 1974 260Z that had Ferrero pipes on it. I drove it for one year and bought a 1975 copper colored Porsche Targa and gave the Z to Cindy. I bought Kaye a Honda Accord when the first one came out and she loved it. She was turning left when she was hit by a car. I decided to get rid of it. I bought a 1980 450 SL Mercedes. In 1980 I bought Greg a new Toyota 4 wheel drive truck for his 16th birthday. Brad wanted a silver VW convertible in 1978, even though he was only 12. I bought it to save for him. In 1983 I bought Kaye a 300 SD Mercedes. Earlier I bought Cathy a 1972 Mustang. It was a dog, so she bought a Mercury Capri with her own money. I also bought an orange VW pop top camper. I also had a Dodge camper. For a short time, I had a 1972 Chevy Corvettte convertible. I also had a 1980 Ford Bronco and a 1981 Jeep Scrambler. At one time I had 9 cars. In 1985 I bought a one ton Chevy 4 wheel drive pickup truck. we even got Kaye's grandmother's 1952 Lincoln and R Adams' 1971 transAm and his black Chevy Corvette when he died. For a while we had my Dad's Datsun pick up after he died. We gave it to Gary Reynolds.
