Kaye's Family

I first met Grandma Cowley when I started dating Kaye. She had a big brick, Victorian House in Layton. She also had a tv. We used to go down there on weekends and watch tv. Her family owned the Kowley Drug in Layton. I met Kaye's uncle Hal and his wife, Mary Lou. He was only about 8 years older than me and was like a big brother to Kaye. I also met her uncle, Stan, and his wife, LaRee, and her uncle Bill and his wife, Vera.  They all worked at the Kowley Drug. I also met her other relatives and her Mom's family, the Smith's.

Hal and I went skiing a lot at Snow Basin and we rode horses up to the tops of the mountains behind Layton. One time, Hal and I went to Big Basin and the first time down, I fell and broke my ankle. It really hurt, but I shred on it all day. When we got home, I took off my boat. My ankle was killing me all night. The next morning I went to Dr. Noel Ganner. When he went to xray it, he really twisted my ankle and it nearly killed me. He said it wasn't broken.

Trips to Stan's Ranch

Kaye and I also went up to Stan's Ranch to see Mark, his son, and Mary. It was outside of Pinidale, Wyoming. We all went into Pinidale to the box. Mark told me that if I drank Scotch I would never get sick, so I did. When we came home that night I was so sick. I was outside in about a foot of snow in my underwear throwing up. So much for Scotch.

On another trip we went to the ranch and I was going to help Stan fix fences. instead Stan had his liquor hidden everywhere-haystacks, etc, and we didn't get anything done. We were at the Kramer Place. I wanted to go back to the ranch house to be with Kaye. I told Stan that I wanted to leave and he didn't want to leave, so I started to walk back to the ranch. Stan finally came by in the truck and picked me up.

One of the last times we went up to the ranch, R Adams, Grandma Cowley and I went up to see Mark and Stan. Stan was up on top of the Primitive Area feeding the rancher's cattle. He and LaRee were staying in a little cabin. Mark drove us up there in his truck in a really rough road. I'd never seen up there before. It was really beautiful up there, lakes all around-most people were not allowed in the Primitive Area.
