Christmas at Grandma Cowleys

Every Christmas vacation in Dental School we got in our car and drove up to Grandma Cowley's home in Layton, Utah, for Christmas. The kids always loved being at Grandma Cowley's house for Christmas. On the first trip, we stopped to eat in Winnemucca at a restaurant. They served the meals on big heavy plates. Cindy was acting up and banged her knife on the plate and it split in two parts. That scared her so much she shut up. She used to ride standing behind Bill's shoulder and would sometimes fall asleep that way. As we were leaving San Francisco, Cindy fell asleep. we realized we had forgotten something and we went back home to get it. When we stopped, Cindy woke up. We told her we had already been to Grandma's house and we were home. She thought she had missed Christmas until we all started to laugh and told her the truth.
