Greg and Brad

The boys had a lot of fun in Little League. Greg was an excellent pitcher and catcher. He was hard on himself if his team didn't win. He also loved to skateboard and surf. He went so all out that he was always getting hurt.

Brad enjoyed Little League for the social life. He enjoyed being with the team and loved the pizza after the game.

We got in the habit of going camping in Yosemite after baseball season with their coach, Ron Welch, and his family. We did that for several years. There were lots of fun times hiking, swimming, looking at bears and having fun. We all loved it.

I was working in the Little League Presidency for many years. We had lots of Little League Parties at our house with barbecues, swimming, with the kids, coaches and parents. It was a fun time for our family.

Greg was on a skateboard team and entered lots of contests at the skateboard park. He and the Williams boys loved taking a big skateboard down Rodeo Gulch at night. It's a wonder they survived.

Greg got his first surfboard when he was 10 years old. It started a long love for the ocean and the waves. He surfed at Steamer's Lane by the lighthouse, in Capitola, and every place they could surf around Santa Cruz. He wasn't very good at first, but when we went to our condo in Hawaii, one of the Hawaiian men took him under his wing and taught him a lot. When he was in high school he would get up very early and put on his wetsuit and go surfing before school started. He never was late for school.

When Brad was in high school, he loved horses, dancing and girls. The Christmas before he died, he got his favorite present, a 3/4 Arab 1/4 Morgan horse that was so well trained that he could count, retrieve a straw hat, kneel and do other tricks. He loved to go to the school and church dances. He used to get in the back seat of the car and look in the rear view mirror and say "Why am I so cute?" The girls seemed to agree with him. He had long, curly hair and a darling smile. He loved to talk to girls on the phone. He wasn't old enough to date yet.

He won a medal in a ski race in Canada. He was very proud of that.

Greg and Brad both won trophies and medals in the Pinewood Derby races in Cub Scouts. Our family got really good at making fast race cars for the Pinewood Derby races.
