Scouts
At the end of my freshman year at Dental School when all my finals were coming up I was asked by one of the members of our church if I would be willing to be the assistant Scoutmaster in our ward. I told him I had real concerns because I had finals coming up and I wouldn't have much free time at all. He assured me that as assistant scoutmaster I wouldn't have much to do. I went the first scout meeting. they introduced me to the scoutmaster and the troop. He immediately resigned and told the scouts I would be the new scoutmaster. The big problem was that Scoutarama at the Cow Palace was coming up just before my finals. I chose as my assistant scoutmaster a student and member of the ward, Jerry Jensen. When it came down to Scoutarama time, Jerry said he couldn't help me because he had to study for finals. I had to decide whether to spend time with the boys or study for my finals. I decided to help the Scouts put on their presentation at Scoutarama. It went well and I did great on my finals. Jerry Jensen almost flunked out of school and had to go to summer school. Is there a moral to this story?
