Early Morning Years in Provo
When Kaye and I returned to BYU from Arizona after we got married, we moved into a basement apartment in an old house on 500 West and 200 South. It was a studio apartment. Kaye's mom and dad separated and Mary moved in with us in our little studio. Mary started back at college at BYU. Not every newlywed couple has their mother in law move in with them in a studio apartment a couple of months after they get married. All three of us were students at BYU. Kaye got pregnant in Arizona and we had Cathy while we lived there. All of us were taking a class called, "Achieving a Success in Marriage." One day in class during a class on mother in laws, Mary was standing on the far side of the room. I pushed a chair in that row in and the one by Marry tipped over and landed on her foot. Beside it really hurt that night we took her to the doctor. Her foot was broken and she got a cast and crutches. I never heard the end of it in that class. I spent very little time studying in that class, but the instructor gave us all A's because he didn't want to cause problems for our family.
