We used to go to Fort Bragg in the spring time during Easter break with our kids. Along the coast we would stop at Bodiga Bay and camp there on the sand dunes. One time Jimmy got poison oak on him and his eyes swelled. We would see whales porting in the ocean as we drove along the coast. There were beautiful wild flowers. We would stop at Pt Reyes light house and go tour the light house and look at the dairy cows. One time Greg was sick and he wouldn't go down to the light house. When Greg grew up and was commercial fishing we would anchor the boat by Pt Reyes.
On the way up there we would stop at Ft. Ross where the early Russian sailors had a fort and a fur trading post. In Fort Bragg our destination was McKerricher Park. w would camp there for most of the week. They had beautiful tide pools and great wild beaches. The kids had a lot of fun there. There were a lot of sea lions on the rocks there.
We went there every year while our kids were in school. Later on we would also take some of our grandkids. We would also go north of Fort Bragg inland and we would go out west about 35 miles back toward the coast to Shelter Cove. We took Marge, Lisa and Mikie there. There was a black pebble beach and wild walking through town. Greg and some of his friends were with us one time in his blue Toyota pick up. On our way home Greg blew the clutch out of his pick up in Layton and he had to leave his truck there to be fixed. He and his friends rode home with us. Later we had to take him back to pick up his truck.
