Graduation from Duncan High
I graduated from Duncan High in June of 1952. There were approximately 35 kids that graduated. Some of my friends and I drove to El Paso to buy a suit for the prom and graduation. We were stopped at Las Cruces, New Mexico at a stop light when a big truck loaded with hay ran into the back of my dad's car and smashed the truck up. The truck driver told me to follow him into El Paso and he would pay for the damage. He went through every yellow light trying to lose us. We followed to his motel and then got 3 appraisals for the repairs. We went to him early in the morning before he could leave. He paid me for the repairs. I felt bad about damaging dad's car so I decided to get a cheap suit instead of a nice one. It was so ugly. I wore it one time and gave it away. Henry Smith gave me a tie and Uncle Earl and Aunt Alice gave me a shirt for graduation.
