Water Ski Trips

In Little League we became friends with the Rutherford Family. They liked to water ski and talked us into buying a water ski boat and going water skiing with them. We went to a big boat show in San Jose and found a boat we loved. It was a silver Hammond, 20 foot 1978 model. It had an open bow and was white and sparkling silver. It was a great boat. We would go with the Rutherfords, Jim, Marion, Randy and Shelly, and the Bell Family, Gene, LuDean, Brett and Brent. Wherever we would go waterskiing, we would go camping. It was our most fun way of taking vacations. We learned how to get the kids up on water skiis, knee boards, etc. We also pulled the kids on inflated tires and toys.

Some of the places we went to water ski were San Antonia Lake, Nacamiente, Don Pedro, Whiskeytown, and our favorite, Trinity Lake. Sometimes we went with other families and sometimes our family went alone. We took Cathy, Cindy, Greg and Brad. Later we added our kids husbands and wives and then our grandchildren. This went on from 1978 until after we moved to Trail, Oregon. we gave each of our kids all the equipment that they needed for their families to camp out, tents, sleeping bags, stoves, etc. Camping and water skiing was all of our families favorite things to do. We water skiied at Lost Creek Lake in Trail, Oregon after our daughter Cathy Hunter and her family moved to Medford, Oregon. That is how we found our ranch near Lost Creek Lake and moved to 1442 Laurelhurst Road in Trail, Oregon.
